ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, October 28, 2015 – GIS: The Government of Grenada has been guaranteed an EC$12 million loan from the Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd. to erect lighting fixtures at the National Cricket Stadium.
This long awaited news was disclosed by Minister for Culture, Senator Hon. Brenda Hood, at Wednesday’s Post Cabinet Briefing.
The Senator said the approval of the loan, which was negotiated through the National Lotteries Authority, is exciting news for Grenada as it means the island will soon be able to host night games, and significantly boost its sports tourism offerings.
Given the technical preciseness of the project, a number of consultations will be held to ensure the lighting is carried out to West Indies Cricket Board standards. However, the Senator says bids are expected to be sent out soon.
